Horror classic ‘Carrie’ coming to Blu-ray

MGM today announced that the 1976 horror classic ‘Carrie’ will be released on Blu-ray this October 7th. No specs or bonus content has been announced. We’ll update this post once MGM emails us the press release.

Carrie was directed by Brian De Palma and written by Lawrence D. Cohen, based on the novel by Stephen King. The film and the novel deal with a socially outcast teenage girl, Carrie White, who discovers she possesses telekinetic powers after being subjected to both physical and mental harassment by her peers, teachers, and her mother. The film was also a major success, grossing over $33 million at the U.S. box office on a budget of $1,800,000.

‘Horton Hears a Who!’ Blu-ray announced

Fox announced today that Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray on December 9, 2008. The animated film stars Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Carol Burnett.

Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who! Blu-ray release will be presented in widescreen format on a 25GB single-layer disc authored in AVC (MPEG 4) compression with English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio, Spanish/French 5.1 Dolby Digital plus English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean and French subtitles.

‘The Ultimate Matrix Collection’ Blu-ray box set confirmed for North America

After news broke that Warner Bros Japan planned to release The Matrix on Blu-ray, many wondered if a North American release was planned. Well wonder no more, Matrix fans! Today, Warner Bros. announced that ‘The Ultimate Matrix Collection’ will be released on October 14, 2008.

The set is similar to the HD DVD version previously released. A total of seven discs are included, on which all three films, The Animatrix and tons of extras are presented. One such extra is a Digital Copy of the first Matrix.
