‘The Tale of Despereaux’ coming to Blu-ray

Universal announced today that “The Tale of Despereaux” is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on March 17, 2009. The film will be presented on a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p video (2.35:1 aspect ratio) and an English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track.

Bonus features shared with the DVD include two featurettes, scene progressions, deleted songs, an interactive game, and a preview of “Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey.” Exclusive to the Blu-ray version are two Bonus View picture-in-picture tracks, a second game, and BD-Live-enabled My Scenes Sharing.

‘Rachel Getting Married’ heads to Blu-ray

Rachel Getting Married, the indie drama with tons of buzz, arrives on Blu-ray Disc and DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on March 10. Directed by Jonathan Demme and penned by first-time writer Jenny Lumet, the film stars Academy Award and Golden Globe Nominee Anne Hathaway, Academy Award-nominee Debra Winger, Bill Irwin and Rosemarie Dewitt.

The Rachel Getting Married bonus features include deleted scenes, filmmaker and cast audio commentaries, featurettes, and a Q&A panel with Jonathan Demme.

The Blu-ray Disc version of Rachel Getting Married is BD-Live enabled, allowing users to download exclusive content via an Internet-connected Blu-ray player.

‘Fly Away Home’ and ‘Winged Migration’ soar onto Blu-ray

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment brings two Oscar-nominees “Fly Away Home” and “Winged Migration” to Blu-ray on April 7, 2009. Anna Paquin stars as Amy Alden, a 13-year-old who, along with her father, set out on a dangerous trek in order to lead a flock of orphaned geese south in Fly Away Home. Winged Migration is an award-winning documentary about birds in flight in their natural world.

‘Australia’ coming to Blu-ray

FOX announced today that Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia” is headed to DVD and Blu-ray on March 3, 2009. The film will be presented on a BD-50 dual-layer disc in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video with DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround. The Blu-ray edition will feature tons of exclusive bonus features, including an in-depth, nine part Behind The Scenes documentary. Also included is a featurette titled “Australia: The people, the history, the location” and two deletes scenes.
